Hilda Pierson Anderson (Mrs. Sam Anderson) was born January 12, 1870, at Ekeby, Forsamlingen, Malmahusland, Sweden.
She was baptized early that year and was also confirmed in Sweden in 1883.
At 17 years of age, Hilda Pierson came to America in August, 1887, and lived for several years in Chicago, Illinois. One Sept 12, 1895, as a young lady of 25, she became the bride of an engineer in the steel mills, Same Anderson of Hammond, Indiana.
About 4 years after their marriage, the Sam Andersons moved away from the industrial life in the steel mills of Indiana to the pastoral life on the farm lands of Nebraska, where for 11 years the family lived.
Before the Sam Anderson family arrived at Center City in 1920, they had farmed for 8 years at Isanti, Minn, to which place they had gone from Nebraska, in the hope of being able to reap more of the rewards of the labor rather than having it washed away by flood tides.
Through the years three sons became a welcome part of this family. They are Howard, who lived with his mother on Center View Farm in Center City until his death March 11, 1957, Carlton, who has been left to operate the farm alone since his brothers demise and Ted of Waterloo, Iowa, who with Carlton survives. Mr. Anderson preceded his wife and son in death on June 4, 1939.
The family became members of the Chisago Lakes Lutheran Church at Center City on June 2, 1929.
On March 26, this year, Carton and his mother moved into their home in Center City. Showing some illness on Tuesday, March 29th, but remaining at home where she passed away near midnight, having lived to the age of 90 years, 2 months and 1 day.
In addition to the two sons surviving her, there are also nieces and nephews left to mourn their departure. Mrs. Anderson came from a family of 9 children of whom she is the last to depart this life and all had lived to over eighty years of age, except one brother.
Funeral services were conducted from the Chisago Lake Luth.
