Services will be held today at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City Thursday March 14, for Howard Anderson, widely known dairy farmer of that community, who died suddenly at his home early Monday morning. Mr. Anderson, 60 years of age, had been ill for five months suffering from a heart condition which caused his demise.
It was only a few days before his passing that Mr. Anderson was improving in health and spirits and remarked that he might soon be able to be out and around again about the farm aiding with light chores. He was one of the Anderson Bros. who have farmed for many years just northeast of Center City and who have won many awards in the raising of pure bred Holstein dairy stock.
Howard Agaton Anderson was born Nov 25, 1896, at Hammond, Indiana, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Anderson. He was baptized December 29, 1896. At the age of 2 years he moved with his family to Barnston, Nebraska, where he lived for eleven years. In 1912 the family came to Minnesota, and Howard moved with his folks to Center City in 1920 where he has lived ever since at Center View Farm east of the village. Part of his earlier life included a brief period of service in World War I. He was always interested in purebred cattle and had built up one of the leading Holstein herds in the State of Minnesota and had sold cattle to cattlemen from seven states. As a citizen of this community he also served for 13 years as President of the Chisago County Fair.
Almost twenty years ago, Howard Anderson was preceded in death by his own father who passed away in 1939. Left to survive this present death is his mother, Mrs. Sam Anderson at home on the Center View Farm and one brother, Carlton, with whom the mother is living, one other brother, Ted of Waterloo, Iowa, also survives. Various other relatives are also left to mourn his passing.
Interment was at the Chisago Lakes Cemetery and Pallbearers were Wallace Stenberg, Albert Gustafson, Paul Farnell, Arthur Bolander, Marvin Johnson and Ralph Goranson. Soloist was Mrs. Edmund Jonason, organist, Mr. Glen Lovestrand and officiating at the service was Pastor W Burdette Benson.
