Sam Anderson, 79 of the Center View farm just east of Center City died at his home Sunday June 4 following and illness of three or four years duration. Mr. Anderson suffered a stroke a week ago Monday and failed rapidly from that time.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 pm from the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church with Rev Carl Christianson officiating. Pallbearers were: Albert Stenberg, Frank Farnell, Albert Gustafson, Ted Eastland, EA Jonason and Fred Swanson. A duet was rendered by the Misses Doris and Ethel Mattson and Orely Eastlund of Cambridge, MN, sang a solo. Burial was made at the church cemetery.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife and three sons. The sons are Howard, Carlton and Theodore all of Center City who reside at the home place. He also leaves one sister in Sweden and his brother of Kansas City having passed away suddenly last February.
The deceased was born in Kultorp, Smaland, Sweden October 25, 1859 settling in Chicago, IL where he secured employment as a mechanic later becoming chief engineer in what was then the only steel mill west of Pennsylvania, a position which he held for 7 years. However during the panic of 1893 he tired of unsteady employment and moved to Nebraska where he took up farming., later settling in Minnesota. He was married to Hilda Pearson in 1895. Upon coming here he purchased the Center View Farm near Center City in 1919, the place which has gained a wide reputation for its blooded livestock. He retired from active management of the farm several years ago, the work having then carried on by his sons who will continue in that capacity.
