He was a senior deacon in his church at the time of his death. He belonged to the Baptist Church in Plainfield, but transferred to the Congregationalist in Naperville He was a member there 31 years.He and Zella went west several times to visit family. He was very fond of his western nieces and nephews. They came to stay with them for extended visits a couple of times. He started as a rural mail carrier around Plainfield from Aug. 1, 1901 to Dec. 1, 1907. Then was transferred to the Naperville PO.
