Husband of Mattie Doris Bryant
SHOALS, NC ~ Robert Paul "Jack" Marion, 85, of Shoals, husband of Doris Bryant Marion, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born in Surry County on March 28, 1923 to the late Paul Alexander and Mary Lou Forrest Marion.
Jack loved to work on his farm; he also sold insurance and delivered mail. He loved to spend time with his family and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
Jack was a charter member of Shoals Ruritan Club and served 15 years on the Board of Directors for Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership Corporation.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Benny Marion of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Polly and Virgil Wall of Pinnacle and Susie and Rick Davis of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Sara Beth Davis, James and John Davis; five sisters, Opal Marion, Ruth Miller, Ona Atkins, Jessie Gray Mitchell and Wilma and husband Calvin Tucker.
Mr. Marion was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Sallie Simmons, Mabel Fulk, Joyce Martin, Kate Fulk and Frankie Marion; special nephew, J.T. Martin; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Fairview United Methodist Church from 7 to 9 PM and other times at their home.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Amy L. Coles conducting the service with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shoals Summer Camp, c/o Linda Marion, 276 Pinnacle Hotel Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
