Mrs. Ruth Marion Miller, 97, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday night, January 30, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Miller was born March 28, 1920, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late Paul Alexander and Mary Lou Forrest Marion. Ruth was a loving and devoted housewife and farmer for many years. She later worked as a cafeteria worker at Shoals Elementary School, retiring at 85 years old. Ruth was a dedicated Christian and a member of Siloam United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Freeman of Dobson; two sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Roy and Kim Miller of Hiddenite and Larry and Nancy Marion of Shoals; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilma and Calvin Tucker of Shoals and Ona Atkins of King; a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Ila Mae and Buster O’Neal and Charlie Miller, all of Dobson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Vestal Miller; seven sisters; and a brother. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Siloam United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wesley Hall, the Rev. Roy Miller, and Dr. Randy Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Joyce Ingram, P.O. Box 16, Siloam, NC 27047.
