Rachel (Harmon) Wingo, 89, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Mrs. Wingo was born in Spartanburg on September 27, 1917, and was daughter of the late Thomas Buford and Lillian (Settle) Harmon. She was the widow of Algie Gwinn Wingo.
She retired from Spartanburg County School District One and was a member of Inman United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Kay Ownbey and her husband Bud; two sons, Jerry Wingo and his wife Sandra and Randy Wingo; two sisters, Mildred Hopper and Mary Ellen Herman; four grandchildren, Lori Bradley and her husband Richie, Julie White, Jodie Cooper and her husband Michael, Hope Wingo; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Roberta McMillin and a brother, Carroll Harmon.
Funeral services were held at Inman United Methodist Church on Thursday, February 22, 2007 with Rev. Ron Leonard officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were made to Inman United Methodist Church or Gramling United Methodist Church.
