Shirley G. Wenzel
(August 15, 1939 - July 23, 2011)

Shirley G. Wenzel, 71, of Spring Valley, went home to be with the Lord and her loved ones in heaven on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Hollowayville United Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Slutz officiating. Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8:00 PM Tuesday at Mueller Funeral Home in Peru. Additional visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Wednesday at church.

Mrs. Wenzel was born August 15, 1939 in Spring Valley to Charles and Alvina (Jordan) Smith.

Mrs. Wenzel attended Hollowayville United Church of Christ and was a member of the Wyanet Old Car Club. She owned and operated Petticoat Junction in Zearing for 10 years. Later, she was a cook at The Spoon in Princeton and then a bus driver for Malden Grade School. She was someone who enjoyed cooking and taking care of others and for many years served as an in-home health care provider. She also enjoyed camping and boating. She volunteered at St. Anthony's Church in Spring Valley where she greatly enjoyed gathering weekly with the ladies to twist ravioli for their fundraiser.

Survivors include the father of her children, Kenneth Wenzel; three daughters, Rosalyn (Bill II) Leopold of Dimmick and their children, Janelle (Jake) Dean, Bill Leopold III, Ashley (Mike) Sylva and Reed Leopold; Terri Cyrocki of Ft. Pierce, FL and her children, Crystal (Frank) Walls and Greg (Annette) Cyrocki; and Amy (Don) Noy of Spring Valley and their children, Kelsey and Alec Noy; eight great-grandchildren, Carly and Christian Dean, Aiden and Carter Sylva, Bailey and Brooke Schinkey, Trinity Walls and Anna Cyrocki; three sisters, Myrte McNeilly of Michigan, Ginny (Wayne) Schultz of Mendota and Arlene (Jim) Waytenick of Peru; two brothers, Bob (Judy) Smith of Dimmick and Curt Smith of Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her life partner, Donald Morris; a granddaughter, Carly Leopold; two sisters, Betty Hess and Norma Krenz and two brothers, Chuck and Raymond Smith.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
