JOHN H. CHILDS DEAD
Former Syracusan Who Moved to Hastings, Neb.
John H. Childs, jr., native of his city, died yesterday at Excelsior Springs, Mo. Mr. Childs was a son of Mrs. Amelia F. and the late John H. Childs, sr., and a grandson of Burr Burton, one of the first settlers in the town of Salina and the First ward. He was born in the First ward on June 6th, 1868.
When a young man he left this city for Hastings, Neb. Recently illness caused him to go to Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Beside his mother, four sisters, Mrs. Joseph M. Hill, Mrs. H. P. Warner and Mrs. Edmund A. Hall (sic) of this city and Mrs. Howard S. Baker of Sioux City, Ia., and a brother, Hamilton E. Childs of New York, survive.
The body will be brought here by Undertakers M. Ryan & Son. The funeral will be held at the home of Mrs. Hill, No. 301 Slocum avenue, but the final arrangements have not been made.
