MARSHALL - Francis Selje, age 59, died Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at his home, after a long illness. Fran was born June 21, 1939 in Madison, the son of Arnold and Arlowene (Brassington) Selje. He graduated from Madison East High School the Class of 1957. Fran trained in Fort Lauderdale for his pilots license and obtained his commercial license later. He had a great love of flying. Fran was owner and operator of Standard Oil and Shell Oil service stations in the Madison area. He married Deborah on August 22, 1986 in Madison. Fran is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughter, Lynn (Tade) Swerig of Janesville; son, Robert (Barbara) Selje of Tennessee; daughter, Angie Grass of Oregon; sisters, Dodie (Dave) Suminski of Ashland and Carole Gibbons of Madison; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica,
Benjamin, Shelly, Theresa, Dylan and Julia; a special life long friend, Barb Endres; brothers-in-law, Gary (Glendolan) Rasmussen of Madison, Ron Rasmussen of McFarland, Ed Rasmussen of Marshall and Bob (Mary) Rasmussen of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Fran was preceded in death by his parents, Arlowene and Arnold, and a brother-in-law, Neil Gibbons. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 1998. The Rev. Paul Anderson presiding.
