Noah Ferguson was born about 1819 and died between 1880 and 1900. He was present in Lincoln County, North Carolina in 1842 when he witnessed the marriage of his brother-in-law, William L. Strain (1818-1896). He married Mary Catherine Strain (1821-1915) about 1841 in North Carolina or South Carolina. His grave is not marked, but it is believed he is buried in the family lot with William Williams and his wife, Margaret Amanda Strain Williams, in West Hill Cemetery.
Both the 1860 and 1870 Censuses state ages that indicate he was born about 1819 in North Carolina (i.e., ages 41 and 51, respectively). The 1880 census gives an age far different from those (age 66 in 1880), so it is believed the latter age is incorrect.
