Charles married Mary Virginia Bryant.
They are the parents of Joanna Bentley Tyson and Melba Bentley Price.
Charles R. Bentley, age 88, of the 700 block of Oak Grove Road, went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2000, in Chesapeake. Born in Pulaski, VA, Mr. Bentley was formerly of Norfolk and was a retired caretaker with the Hermitage Foundation Museum after 37 years of service. He was predeceased by his living wife of 68 years, Mary Virginia Bentley. He was a member of Kempsville Church of God.
He is survived by two daughters, Joanna and her husband, Grant Tyson, of Pulaski, VA, and Melba and her husband, Bill Price, of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased by three great-grandchildren, Justin, Katie and Nathan.
A funeral was held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel. Services will be officiated by his grandson, the Rev. William Price. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. and at 1300 Placid Way, Chesapeake, all other times. Memorial donations should be made to First Baptist Church, Norfolk, Greenbrier Building Fund, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, VA 23502.
