He is to be identified with the Roddy Major Lanford or Major Roddey Lanford shown in various sources. The minutes of Friendship Baptist Church show a number of references to Roddy, some of which are not complimentary. Drinking to excess, grievances with fellow members, election as a delegate, and reporting fellow members for misconduct are some of the events chronicled. Roddy must have been a Notary Public, or a Trial Justice, or something like that, since performed marriage ceremonies.
