Velma H. Sutton
Velma Helena Sutton, 96, of Durbin, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Davis Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Sutton was born Nov. 21, 1907, in Durbin and was the daughter of the late James McKendree and Mary Annis Gragg Colaw.
She was a member of the Durbin Church of the Brethren and attended Durbin United Methodist Church.
She was a retired cook for the Durbin Grade School and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. Sutton, whom she married on Sept. 7, 1927; her sisters, Monna B. Feather and Virginia Colaw; and two brothers, James Russell Colaw and Arnold J. Colaw.
Surviving are one son, Lake W. Sutton of Cripple Creek, Colo.; one sister, Mary Willa Smith and husband, Bill, of Norfolk, Va.; three brothers, June Colaw and wife, Kathleen, of Durbin, Hayward Colaw of Durbin and Vernon Colaw and wife, Betty, of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. David Rittenhouse and the Rev. Frank Naglic will officiate and interment will be in Arbovale Cemetery.
