The death of John Ashby occurred Saturday evening at 5 o’clock at his late home, one mile northwest of Conroe. An attack of grip was the cause of his death. Deceased was born January 28,1832, on the farm on which he spent his entire life and died. The land was originally obtained from the government by his father. Mr Ashby was an industrious and upright man. By dirt of hard work he secured a goodly amount of the world’s goods. He was married on February 9, 1859, to Sarah Foresman and the following children survive: Frank Ashby, of Kentland; Mrs Rachel Hyde, of Kawanna; Joseph W Ashby, of Conroe; John F Ashby of Alexandria, Iowa., and Oliver Ashby, of Maywood, Iowa., He was married a second time on June 20, 1882, to Elizabeth World, and one daughter, Blanche Ashby, survives, with her mother. The funeral will be conducted from the Conroe Christian church tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock. Rev. Koontz will officiate and the interment will be in the Conroe Cemetery.
