1870 Mortality Schedule for Huntingdon County, PA. Lists him as Daniel Caricher, resident of Huntingdon County, age 73, died in July, 1870 of Dropsy and was a blacksmith.

In the book "History of Huntingdon and Blair counties, Pennsylvania" by J. Simpson Africa, c. 1883 on Page 392: "The hamlet of Spring Mount is situated at the foot of the Bald Eagle Ridge, north of the centre of the township. It contained in 1880 about a dozen houses, a Brethren or Dunkard Church, and had 94 inhabitants. The place took its name from a fine spring which rises in the mountains near this place, and was never regularly platted. The farm on which it had its beginning belonged to Henry Krider, and a few lots were at first sold merely to accommodate mechanics who wished to carry on their trades at that point. The first building was a blacksmith-shop, in which Daniel Caraher worked a number of years, being followed by Samuel Caraher, his son."

1850 PA census for Centre County, Taylor Twp., house 55, family 55:
Daniel Caraher, 54, male, Blacksmith
Alfred Caraher, 20, male
Susan Caraher, 18, female
Catherine Caraher, 16, female
Mary Caraher, 13, female
Henrietta Caraher, 10, female.
(We know from her tombstone that Catherine/Catharina (Waite) Caraher, Daniel's wife, died 12 Oct 1849 and is buried at Cross Roads Cemetery in Warriors Mark, Huntington County, PA.)
