Funeral services for Willard Lee Mantooth, 88, of Wa yne were held April 4, 2003
at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Brown officiating.
Interment was at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral
Home in Purcell.
Mr. Mantooth died April 1, 2003 at Purcell Municipal Hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1914 in Peavine, near Rosedale, one of eight children of
Albert Berry Mantooth and Ollie Birth Mantooth. He was reared in McClain County,
attending school in Washington.
In his early adult years he owned a construction company and later was
owner/operator of a trucking company. He lived in Purcell for many years before
moving to Wayne 18 years ago.
Mr. Mantooth married Ida Lee Duffy on Sept. 14, 1964 in Gainesville, Texas.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerry Mantooth; three
brothers, Lawrence, Russell and Albert; three sisters, Bea Estep, Clara Miller
and Joan Thomas and a grandson, Shane Spencer.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Mantooth, of the home; four children, Carroll
Price and Willard B. Mantooth and his wife, Rena, all of Wayne, Carolyn Wall and
her husband, Dale, of Bridge Creek and Brenda Mantooth of Purcell; one sister,
Lois Doughty of Purcell; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Randy Willingham, Ronnie Ray, Shawn Spencer, Chad Mantooth,
Berry Mantooth and Richard Locke.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Sherman, Ray Sharp, James Laughlin, Terry
Lawson, J.B. Barthalomew, Weldon Cranford, Benny McGowen, Cotton Beck, Monk
Pritchett and Dr. Ed Lee.
