Born to A.B. and Ollie (Burch) Mantooth, she graduated from Washington High School in 1937 and received a degree in elementary education from the University of Oklahoma.
During World War II, she worked for Douglas Aircraft as a Rosie the Riveter.
In 1956 she moved back to Purcell and taught until she retired in 1980.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Doughty on March 15, 1995; 3 sisters, Bea Estep, Clara Miller and Joan Thomas; and 4 brothers, Willard, Laurence, Albert and Russell Mantooth.
She is survived by one son, Jack Hinton of Mesquite; granddaughter Christi Hinton of London; brother-in-law Raymond Estep, of Norman; sister-in-law Roberta Yeary Mantooth of Purcell.
