From the Aitkin Independent Age, Aitkin, Minnesota, Wednesday, December 18, 1963 - Mrs. Annie Heuer, age 85, resident of Cedar Brook and Aitkin village since 1917, passed away at the Gables Nursing Home on Friday, December 13, after a long illness. Services were held from the Sorensen-Root Funeral Home on Monday, December 16, at 11 a.m. with Pastor William Krueger officiating. Mrs. Jack Proctor sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me", accompanied by Mrs. Vernon Nienow. Pallbearers were Ray Weimer, Ted Nordean, Ed Nyberg, Kermit Olson, Herbert Nordean and Walter Peterson. Interment was in the family lot in Lakeview cemetery. Annie Heuer was born in Germany on August 26, 1878, and came from Germany with her parents at the age of 19 to Lake Park, Iowa. After her marriage to Henry Heuer at Lake Park she and her family moved to Garrison, North Dakota, where they made their home until moving to the Cedar Brook area near Aitkin in 1917. Mr. Heuer passed away in 1937 and Mrs. Heuer continued to make her home in the Aitkin area. Surviving are five sons: Ernest of Glenwood; Edward of Townsend, Montana; Harry of Lawton, Oklahoma; Albert of Aitkin, and George of St. Paul; three sisters: (Hattie), Mrs. Ira Wilcox, and Mrs. Martha Holquist, both of Garrison, North Dakota, and (Amelia), Mrs. Gust Johnson of Aitkin; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
