Funeral services for Benjamin Baker were held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Nodaway Presbyterian Church with the Rev. alvin Sigafus officiating with Roland Funeral Home of Corning in charge.. Interment was in Nodaway Cemetery.
Benjamin Baker, son of Samuel and Mary baker was born at Villisca, Iowa on November 11, 1869, and passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha onFebruary 2, 1961.
On October 5, 1902, he was married to Mary Margerum at Villisca. They had no children, but they did raise Donald Baker of Wichita and Maxine O'Hara of Clarion, Iowa.
Before marriage, he served a number of years in the armed services being a veteran of the Spanish American War, having served in the Philippines during 1890-1893.
After marriage, he and his wife operated the telephone exchange at Nodaway and Villisca for a number of years. Later in the 20's he operated the Ford Agency at Nodaway. He also worked as a mason and plasterer.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife. He is survived by one brother, Thomas Baker of Lincoln, Nebraska, by Maxine, Donald, and other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the V.F.W.

Ben E. Baker was born December 1869 in Montgomery County, Iowa to Samuel William Baker and Mary Elizabeth Mitchell and died February 7, 1961 in the Veterans Hospital in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska. He married Mary Frances Margerum on October 5, 1902.
Word came Thursday that Ben Baker had passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Another of our old timers are gone on.
