A son of Lewis Wetzel Pierce & Pearl Grace Riley

In 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II and participated as an Ensign in the invasions of North Africa and Italy. He was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and assigned command at Fort Myers Weapon's Test Center in Delaware, Maryland, where he remained until he was discharged.

Mr. John Karlln Walters, of Moylan, announces the marriage of his sister, Mrs. Mary Walters Ruppel, of Rehoboth Beach, to Commander James Pierce, U.S.N.R., on May 5, at Salisbury, Md.

Mrs. Pierce is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bonnafon Walters, of Media. Commander Pierce is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Lewis Wetzel Pierce, of Radford, W. Va.

Athalee Eastman was a daughter of Frank Eastman & Clara Belle Schleuss.
