Find a Grave ID

I found my maternal grandparents' memorials on Find A Grave.

They are buried in Golden, Texas, and I lived in western New York when they passed away. I had never been to their graves. Find A Grave Contributor Bill75773 randomly added them. My mother had been to her mother's committal service in 1979, but had never seen the grave marker. In April of 2017, we took a trip to Golden to visit the gravesites. I became a contributor to help others find their family & friends.

I invite you to visit the memorial for My Dad.

When I photograph a gravesite, I try to take both a plot photo and a closeup shot. I sometimes add plot photos to memorials that already have a closeup. This is not meant to imply that the first photo is not good enough. My only intent is to help future visitors to the cemetery to locate a grave they wish to visit. Also, in the caption of the photo, I usually give directions to the grave.

I assume photo requests to be tacit, if not expressly stated, permission from a relative to clean the gravesite and marker in order to get a good photograph and make sure that the stone is legible. I use non-damaging tools, and plain water. If the marker is in poor condition, I leave it as it is.

When I photograph a request, I always look around to see if there are other family members in the same plot or nearby. If there are, and they do not have a memorial, I add one for each and then pass on this information to the contributor that made the request. I will be happy to transfer these memorials. Feel free to ask.
