Gladys Katherine Rainbolt Cox of Knoxville, TN, died January 27, 2011. Gladys was born in Old Butler, TN, in Johnson County. She graduated from Watauga Academy of Butler and Steed Business College of Elizabethton, TN. Gladys was a member of First Baptist Church Concord. Her parents were displaced by Watauga Dam and moved from Butler to Johnson City, TN. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ernest Cox, Sr.; parents, Roy Valentine Rainbolt and Lona Bertha Snyder Rainbolt and sister, Nina Rainbolt Carbine, Falmouth, KY. She is survived by her son, Richard Lee Cox (wife, Kathleen Johnson Cox) of Knoxville; son, Charles E. Cox, Jr. (wife, Regina D. Smith Cox) of Sevierville; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Cox Krum (husband, Robert Alan Krum, Sr.) of Rockville, MD; brother, Warren G. Rainbolt of Rockville; grandchildren, Susan Renee Cox Kuo of San Antonio, Todd Ryan Cox of Dallas, Victoria Haven Cox, Lauren Elizabeth Cox Grubb, Presley Aleece Smith of Sevierville, Robert Alan Krum, Jr, David Michael Krum and Steven Greggory Krum of Rockville, MD; great grandson, Tyler Nicholas Kuo of San Antonio; many nieces, nephews and caring and loving friends of many years. Graveside services will be held at Butler Cemetery, Butler, TN, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
