Nina Rainbolt Carbine, 89, a native of Johnson County who grew
up and was educated in Johnson City, died Wednesday October 17, 2007,
at 8 :10 PM in Falmouth, Kentucky …
Mrs. Carbine was a career employee of the federal government and retired
from Social Security in Kingsport, Tennessee ..
She was the widow of the late Roy G. Carbine, a retired marine and the
former managing editor of the Johnson City Press – Chronicle, who
died in 1991 in Chickamauga, Georgia …
She was born May 8, 1918, near Mountain City, Tennessee, and was the
daughter of the late Roy V. and Lona Snyder Rainbolt of Johnson City …
Mrs. Carbine was a descendent of some of the earliest settlers of
Upper East Tennessee, and as such was a member of the patriotic
Daughters of the American Revolution …
Mrs. Carbine was a member of the Episcopal Church and at the time of
her death attended The Episcopal Church of the Advent in
Cynthiana, Kentucky …
She had spent the last 14 years in Kentucky after the death of her husband ..
She is survived by one son, Bill Carbine, of Cleveland ; two daughters ,
Sherri Carbine Bell of Marietta, Georgia and Peggy Carbine of Falmouth ;
A son-n-law, J. Rex Bell, also of Marietta, one grandson, Roy G. Carbine II ,
of Chattanooga ; a brother, Warren G. Rainbolt, of Rockville, Maryland ;
a sister, Gladys Cox of Lenoir City, as well as several nieces and nephews ….
The Carbine Family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of
Hope and Hospice of the Bluegrass for all their care and support during
this very difficult time …
Visitation will be Saturday, October 20, from 4 – 6 PM with the funeral
to follow at 6:00 at Peoples Funeral Home, 407 Shelby Street, Falmouth ..
Interment will be at the National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee, on
Monday October 22, at 2:30 PM ….
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to hospice …
