Agnes' family moved to a farm in Caledon when she was 2 yrs. old. She attended S.S.#9, Caledon school. They moved to Erin Twp. in 1900, and she learnt dressmaking at Janet and Lizzie Benny's dressmaking shop in Erin, starting at age 16. She went around the neighbourhood, sewing, and staying from a day to a week at each place.
She married Samuel Edmund "Ed" Smith, son of Matthew Thompson Smith & Rachel McKee, on Christmas Day 1907 in Erin Township, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada They lived & farmed on the Smith family farm at Lot 10 Conc. 6, Erin Township.
