John Easter Allen is the son of Pvt. Samuel Allin/Allen Senior and Nancy (Easter) Allen.

Note: John's year of death is listed as April 4, 1851 in the Maude Bliss Allen's book about the Allen family. Other sources list his year of death as 1857. Archived records found by a cousin in the Pulaski County Courthouse show a September 19, 1853 court agreement for administration, audit and settlement of John Allen, Dec'd. John's sons Fountain Allen (James Fountain Allen) and V.W. (Voluntine W.) Allen are listed as administrators. Witnesses: John "Jack" Allen, Creed Saunders, Wm. M. (William) Weaver. A second archived court record shows further estate settlement transactions on January 1, 1857. John's sons James (James Fountain Allen) and Voluntine Allen are listed as administrators. William Weaver was also present at the second settlement. The records show William M. Weaver bought out the interests of heirs Samuel Allen and James Fountain Allen. (William M. Weaver's parents and grandparents were from Virginia.--Source: Roots Web) John's son Samuel Allen moved to Missouri. The two estate settlement records might explain why some sources list John's death date as 1857 rather than 1851.

In 2014, family researcher Lyman Cowan "Skip" Allen who grew up in Somerset, KY shared the following historical note on the formation of Orange County, NC. (In 1752, parts of Granville County, Bladen County, and Johnston County were combined to form Orange County.)

A book written by Maud Bliss Allen about Pvt. Samuel Allin/Allen Senior and descendants is available online at Archive.org (Samuel Allin (1756-1841) Rev War Soldier of NC and KY: a record of his many descendants 1756-1960).
