Fred was born to Harry McDiarmid and Eunice Bourland McDiarmid on March 31, 1926 in Hollywood, Calif.
Fred was most proud of his family and is survived by his wife, and his five children, Also Surviving are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Fred was proud of his Marine Corps service in WWII. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and survived the battle of Iwo Jima. He was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart.
Fred was a graduate of the University of California at Davis and Berkeley. After graduation in 1950, he worked in Hawaii in the production of pineapple, for Del Monte.
The remainder of his working life was with the DuPont Company, except for a brief time selling insurance. Fred's career with Du Pont took him and his family to Cupertino, Santa Barbara, Salinas and Kenwood, Calif.; Orlando, FL.; Pheonix, AZ.; Wilmington, DE.; Panama, Sydney, Australia; Geneva, and Switzerland. Fred retired from DuPont in 1986.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in VA Cemetery in Dixon, Calif.
