William H. Schlabach, 89, early day resident and founder of the city's first hatchery, died early Monday in his home, 1426 NW 38.
A resident since 1907, Schlabach founded the Oklahoma City Hatchery Co at 5501 NW 39 about 25 years ago. He operated the business until he became ill about two years ago. Since that time, the establishment has been operated by a son, Carl E. Schlabach.
Born and reared in DeWitt, Iowa, he was the husband of the late Mrs Florence Schlabach, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Services will be announced by Street & Draper.
Survivors include two daughters, Miss Barbara Schlabach, of the home; and Mrs Alice Nelson, Minneapolis, MN; four sons, Carl E., west of the city; Arthur W., of the home; Frank L., of Chicago; and Harold H., of Denver, CO.
