Elsie's first language was German. Along with four brothers and sisters, she spent her childhood helping with farm work and attending school when she could. Her family moved frequently, residing in Kaufman, Van Zandt, and Navarro Counties before eventually settling in Falls County.
On January 2, 1930, she married Eduard Woltman. Ed and Elsie farmed in the St. Paul community and raised two daughters.
Elsie was a wonderful, selfless mother and grandmother. She was a memorable cook who made fried chicken, sugar cookies, and coffee cake like no one else. She enjoyed country music and playing dominoes.
She died on January 24, 1989 in Marlin, Texas. She is loved and missed.
