She was a homemaker and retired as head cook for Barnacle Bill's Eastern Shore Restaurant in Erie. She also cooked for the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse. She graduated from East High School. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and attending Bible study.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Marie Chance; five brothers, Bill, Ed, Jim, Harry and George Sayers; two sisters, Leoda (sic-Leota) Hullings (sic-Hulings) and Anna May (sic-Mae) Shrum; and a grandson.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Joseph Jay Cooper; three daughters, Katie Evelyn Chrispen, Shirley Ghison and her husband, George, and Theresa Roos and her husband, David, all of Erie; a son, William Joseph Cooper and his wife, Nicole, of Erie; three sisters, Myrtle Cooper of Erie, Mabel Findago of Mechanicsville and Shirley Evans of New York; three brothers, Everett Sayers of Rochester, N.Y., Lester Sayers of Erie and Russell Sayers of Sligo; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
