Born in Lawyersville, he was the chief chemist for North American Cement Co. in Howes Cave, retiring in 1965. He moved to Warnerville in 1972 after residing in Sloansville most of his life.
He was a member of the Warnerville United Methodist Church and the Warnerville Men's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Swart Friss, two daughters, Miss Evelyn Friss of Warnerville and Mrs. Thelma Miller of St. Petersburg Florida.
Funeral services were held at Mereness Funeral Home in Cobleskill.
