MOUNT GILEAD - Mrs. Sarah Barbee Whitley, 98, of East Second Street died Wednesday at Manor Care Nursing Center in Pinehurst.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Smiths Grove Primitive Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Oakboro, she was a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Oral C. Whitley of Winston-Salem, Cromer J. Whitley of Hampton, Va.; daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Richardson of Star, Mrs. Betty Cloninger, Mrs. Doris Cloninger, both of Ellerbe; half sisters, Mrs. Vergie Little, Mrs. Ada Morton, Mrs. Lucille Helms, all of Oakboro; 21 grandchildren.

The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle 7-9 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to Smith Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Route 1, Oakboro, N.C. 28129, or to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Greenville, S.C. 29601.
