Geraldine Whitley Richardson of Pawleys Island died Nov. 5 at her home. She was 82.
Known as Deanie, she was born Dec. 16, 1932 in Stanfield, N.C., the youngest child of Crawford F. and Sarah Ann Whitley.
She spent most of her life in Star, N.C., where she was active in many charitable projects. She recently lived in Surfside Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joe E. Richardson; her sons, Ted Richardson and wife Claire of Myrtle Beach, and Charlie Richardson and wife Lisa of West End N.C.; a daughter, Jo Ann Richardson and husband Lynn of Eagle Springs, N.C.; a sister, Betty W. Cloninger and husband Bill of Ellerbe, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Aaron, Hayley, Colby, Carson, Clay, Jaxon, Zoe and Carrie; three great-grandchildren, Anna Grace, Carter and Finley, and two more on the way. Her first child, Eddie, died before her.
A memorial service will be held Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. at Star United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Shriners Hospitals, care of Oasis Shriners 604 Doug Mayes Pl., Charlotte, NC 28262-8410.
