Alison was the oldest son of Pleman Cook and Margaret Hower. The Cooks moved from Trumbull County, OH to Leighton Twp, Allegan Co, Michigan after Pleman's service in the Civil War. Alison married 1st Hattie May Davis on 25 Sep 1879 in Carie, Kent, MI. They had three sons:
Gilman (b. 8 Sep 1881, m. Ethel Bishop on 15 Apr 1905, d. 1956);
Earl Adison (b.13 Jul 1889. m.Stella Brom on 15 Jan 1916;
Pearl Allison (b.13 Jul 1890;

The birthdates of Earl and Pearl are taken from their WWI Draft Registration Cards. It is thought that they were twins. On the 1900 census both of their birthdates are listed as Jul 1899. (Pearl is listed as female.)

Alison married 2nd Valle Roman, daughter of Charles Peppinge.. and Laura Burk, on 4 Apr 1924 in Muskegon, Muskegon, MI. His death date is unknown.
