Lloyd L.D. Browning returned to his heavenly father Christmas morning, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Annis, Idaho, April 26, 1920, to Fred and Nancy Browning -- one of fourteen children. He grew up on the family ranch. Lloyd graduated as valedictorian and student body president from Midway High School near Lewisville. He received a degree in education from the University of Idaho, Southern Branch before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941, where he served as a pilot and flight instructor. Following the war, he attended law school at the University of Idaho receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in 1950. While attending law school at the U. of I, he met his wife, Natalie Anne Wells, who was on staff at the University. They married on September 1, 1951. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Following law school, he was hired as corporate legal counsel for Idaho Farm Bureau, retiring as Executive Director in 1968, when he accepted an opportunity to establish a Trust Department at Idaho Bank and Trust. He retired from IB&T as a senior vice-president in 1985. L.D. was a well-known businessman and community leader. He served as president of the Bronco Boys Baseball, American Legion Baseball, and was a member of the Idaho Law Review Council, Pocatello Regional Foundation Board, the Elks, Kiwanis, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, and the Pocatello Chiefs. He enjoyed people and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Natalie, two children: Jann Browning Keith Zollinger, Pocatello; Bart D. Browning Gail, Twin Falls; six grandchildren, Ashley, Nicholas and Zachary Zollinger, Pocatello, and Riley, Whitney and Adrianne Browning, Twin Falls; two sisters, Venda Merle Renken, Rigby, and Elouise Milt Tate, Ammon; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters. L.D. loved his family, fishing, animals and playing duplicate bridge. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Cremation has been completed in accordance with his wishes. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 28, 2001, at Downard Hansen Funeral Home in Pocatello at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Little Butte Cemetery, Annis, Idaho.
