Lina Hinckley was born in 1861 in Norway to Peder Ericksen Halseth and Marthe Kathrine Johnsdatter Bjorge. Her mother died in Norway in 1872 and the family immigrated to America and to Utah in 1873 making Lina 12 years old when they came to Utah. Lina's father settled with his family in Cache Valley.

Lina married George F.C. Hinckley in 1879. They had two sons. James Liderick was born 3 July 1884, probably in Park City, Utah. He lived for just 20 months, dying of unknown cause 1 March, 1886, and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete Co., Utah. A 2nd son, Ferdinand Frederick was born in 1889 in Salt Lake City, who lived, married and had a son. Lina's husband, George F.C. Hinckley, died in Park City in 1891 and is buried in the Glenwood cemetery in Park City, Utah. Lina's extended family was involved in mining and she had at least two sisters whose husband's were miners and working in the Park City mines. Her brother, Antone, was also a miner.

Lina married a man with last name of Lynn as noted on the 1900 census in Salt Lake City. Further information on Mr. Lynn is unknown.
