Mount Carroll – Fred Poffenberger, 80, a lifelong Mount Carroll resident, died at noon Tuesday in his home.
He was born in Mount Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Poffenberger, and married Joanna Frederich Feb. 10, 1917. Mr. Poffenberger was a former school custodian here.
Survivors include a son, Glen; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne [Alta] Phillips; two sisters, Mrs. Will Richter, all of Mount Carroll; and Mrs. Charles Woy, Chadwick; and two brothers, Frank and Ernest, both of Mount Carroll.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Frank Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
