Elizabeth was the daughter of Rev. Jesse Adams. Sr., and Abigail Jacobs. She married Robert Maynor on Apr. 8, 1866 in Sampson County, North Carolina. They later relocated their family from Cumberland to Robeson County.

Two of their children became prominent pastors in their communities: Rev. Jimmie A. Maynor founded St. Annah Free Will Baptist Conference and Rev. Arthur Maynor was state moderator for the Holliness denomination and had preached at churches in North and South Carolina as well as Georgia and Alabama.
