A detailed biographical history of Vernon's paternal ancestry is available at Familysearch.org written by me, his grandson, Brett David Reece. The digitized book, written in 2016, is 1,148 pages and is titled: The Reece Family History, 3rd Edition. I will write a future in depth fourth edition of the book detailing the life of this great man.

I loved my grandfather and I identify with him very much. In the 29 years that I knew him I never once saw him lose his temper or utter a foul word. I have tried to emulate his character and I hope I have succeeded to some extent. You couldn't have asked for a more mild mannered grandfather. He loved his family and in particular his grandkids. He would go out of his way to help someone. I am particularly proud of his service during World War II and I have went out of my way to learn as much as I can in regards to the places and events he experienced during the war. In 2001, just months prior to his death, I interviewed him for my family history book; our transcribed interview is and will be found at familysearch.org. This man was one of the most important influences in my life. I miss him very much. Brett D. Reece, 9-25-21
