Wife of Clifton Webster 'Nip" Burns

Mrs. Mary "Klippy Kitty" Catherine Burns, 99 of Frederick died Saturday, April 30 at the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Walkersville.

She was the wife of Clifton "Nip" Webster Burns, who died June 2, 1979. Born August 22, 1911 in Shookstown, MD, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Catherine Shultz Klipp.

Mrs. Burns in her early years had been employed at Muse Tailoring Co, then, she and her late husband owned and operated Burn's Restaurant, in Frederick. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid Bingo player at the Yellow Springs Lions Club.

Surviving are three children: Robert R. Burns, Bondena Burns-Jacques and husband Pete, and Sandra L. Burns all of Frederick; five grandchildren: Clifford A. Geisbert, Jr. and wife Melissa of Brunswick, Jennifer M. Barfield, Tiffany B. Harrison, Julia L. Burns and Desiree A. Hackney all of Frederick; seven great grandchildren: Ariel L. Geisbert, Dalton A. Barfield, Alexis M. Barfield, Mariah A. Hackney, Jordan L. Geisbert, Brenna M. Day, Jake A. Geisbert all of Frederick; and a sister: Irene Palmer of Frederick. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by four brothers: Austin, Roger, Russell and Albert Klipp; and two sisters: Helen Myers and Grace Eckel.

Mrs. Burns is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A, 1201 North Market Street, Frederick where the family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 4. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5 at the funeral home with the Reverend W. Phillip Fogarty officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Bearers will be Ben Harrison, Clifford Geisbert, Jr, Sonny Perkins, Marvin Harrison, Pete Jacques, and Robert E. Dailey III. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Burns to the Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Haven Court, 56 West Frederick Street, Walkersville, MD 21793.
