I think that her stone may have the incorrect death date engraved on it. I found the Administrator Bond dated 21 Mar 1904, in Hawkins County, Tennessee appointing her husband, Marvel Derrick and T. O. Barrett as the administrators to her estate as she died leaving no will. I've attached a copy of the Bond to her memorial. If the Bond date is correct, she would have had to have died prior to 21 Mar 1904, and if only the year is incorrect on the stone then I would think her death date would be 1 Apr 1903.

One other thought, Pendleton Taylor, her father, may have actually been married prior to Catherine McDaniel. Their marriage record is dated in 2 Oct 1838 in Grainger County, Tennessee. Either they were married before this date and remarried and no one has found the other record yet, they had quite a few of the children out of wedlock or Pendleton was married before and many of the children attributed to Katherine McDaniel are another woman's children and this woman died prior to Pendleton and Catherine's marriage in 1838.
