OBIT:John Calvin Derrick 76, died at the home of his brother, DeWolfe Derrick, Surgoinsville, Route 2, on Monday morning about 6:30. Mr. Derrick who left this county 52 years ago, came here from his home in Ada, Oklahoma, about two weeks ago for a visit and suffered a stroke a few days after his arrival. The body was shipped to Milburn, Oklahoma by Colbach-Price and funeral services will be held at nearby Ada, upon it arrival.Survivors include one brother, DeWolfe; three sons: M. E. of Ada, John of Borden, Texas, and Fred of New Orleans, Louisiana, and two daughters: Mrs. R. L. Rhea of Milburn and Mrs. Mollie Coffman of Tulsa, Oklahoma.Rogersville Review, August 29, 1946
