The funeral for Joseph J. Maddock, 70, of rural Maddock was held Sat. at 2:30 p.m. at St. William's Catholic Church in Maddock. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Maddock. He died Dec. 30, 1992 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake.

Fr. George Bodziachowski officiated. Marge Duren was organist & Kathy Melaas provided special music. Pallbearers were Brian Maddock, Rod Maddock, Greg Maddock, Lester Ellingson Jr., George Kanzelman & David Holje. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph J. Maddock was born Feb. 20, 1922 in North Viking Township of Benson County to William J. & Josephine Kearns Maddock. He attended the North Viking Township School. He entered the US Army in Nov. of 1944 & was discharged in Aug. of 1946. He returned to rural Maddock where he owned & operated Maddock Construction Co. until his death.

He married Phyllis Wentz May 10, 1956 in Sidney, Mont. He was a member of St. William's Catholic Church in Maddock.

Survivors include his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. Donald (Paulette) Issak of Broadus, Mont., & Jackie Fossen & Carty Maddock of Maddock; 3 sons, Wesley & Billy of Maddock & Keven of Grand Forks; 3 grandchildren; & 2 sisters, Elmira (Carty) Kain of Seattle, Wash. & Marjorie Brudvik of Woodland Park, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Miles; 2 half-sisters, Marie & Margaret Kain; & 2 half-brothers, Matt & Frank Kain.
