Lucius B. Lloyd, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Aledo, died at his late home in this city Sunday, April 13, 1913, at 6:30 p. m., aged 81 years, two months and eight days.

Funeral services will be held from his late home Wednesday afternoon, April 16th, at 2:00 o'clock under the auspices of Aledo lodge No. 252 A. F. and A. M., Rev. Josiah B. Bartle of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Burial will be in the Aledo cemetery.

Lucius B. Lloyd passed away at his home in Aledo Sunday, April 13, 1913, after a long illness. Mr. Lloyd was born in Erie, Pa., Feb. 5, 1832. He was the son of Benijah and Elizabeth Dunn Lloyd and came with his parents to this county in 1834, when he was two years old and settled near what was later Millersburg, but was then a wilderness. His only playmates were the Indian children. He was married to Mary Booe Cunningham Jan. 14, 1857, and they moved to their own home in Duncan township. Three children were born to them. Effie, wife of George Buford, William H. and Evanna, wife of Ernest Cabeen. William H. died in 1886 and Evanna in 1907. They left the farm and came to Aledo in 1885. Mr. Lloyd has been a faithful member of the Methodist church for many years. He became a member of the New Boston lodge, A. F. and A. M., in 1865 being one of the oldest Masons in the county. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife of 56 years of wedded happiness, his daughter, Mrs. Buford and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the home, Wednesday afternoon, April 16, under the auspices of Aledo lodge, A. F. and A. M., No. 252, Rev. J. B. Bartle, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. As a part of the service the pastor read Mr. Lloyd's favorite poem, which had been a great comfort to him during his last illness. The music was by the Masonic quartet, composed of messrs. A. K. Philleo, C. M. Wells, T. H. Cobb and Paul Graham. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Interment was in the Aledo cemetery.
