ALEDO, Ill., Aug. 27. - Mrs. E. E. Cabeen died at 12 o'clock last night at the age of 37 years. The cause of her death was congestion of the bowels. She was the wife of the proprietor of the Bee Hive. She leaves her husband, father, mother and sister.

(Aledo Democrat - September 3, 1907)

Evanna Lloyd was born March 7, 1870, at the parental home on the farm north of Pomeroy, where her girlhood days were passed, until 1885 when she moved with her parents to Aledo. She attended the Aledo high school and afterward took a course in music at the Geneseo Collegiate Institute at Geneseo, Illinois.

She was united in marriage with E. E. Cabeen on June 15, 1897, and resided for two years in Keithsburg, and then moving to Aledo had ever since resided here where her husband was engaged in business, and they resided with her invalid mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Lloyd.

Her health for the past year had been delicate but her friends were greatly in hopes that she might improve and gradually regain her usual strength, but such was not to be, for on Wednesday, August 21st, she was taken seriously ill. Everything was done that could be done to relieve her but she grew gradually worse and at the dawning of the new day, Tuesday, August 27th, at 12:20 a. m., she passed to the great beyond, aged 37 years, 5 months and 20 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, E. E. Cabeen, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Lloyd, her sister, Mrs. Effie Buford, of Keithsburg and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Her death is an unusually sad one. While yet young, devoted to her husband with whom she was almost a constant companion, attentive and faithful to her mother and father, it seems that her demise is untimely, but he knoweth best who knoweth all things. Her home life was ideal and she was a lover of good books, possessed high ideals, always cheerful and of a sunny disposition.

When she was a child she united with the M. E. church of Pomeroy and on her removal to Aledo she transferred her membership to the M. E. church of this city, and in November, 1905, she united by letter with the Presbyterian church of Aledo of which church she was a member at the time of her death. Mrs. Cabeen was also a member of the Columbian Club, the orders of Rebekah and Eastern Star of this city.

Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. T. Fulton of the Presbyterian church of Alexis, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery with the impressive service of the Order of Eastern Star.
