ELIZABETH (DUNN) LLOYD
Elizabeth was the daughter of Irish Immigrants; Rachael (Taylor) and Oliver Dunn. She was born and raised in Erie County, Pennsylvania where she met and married Benijah Lloyd. He was the son of Aaron and Margaret (Lindsey) Lloyd. They were married on Jan 12, 1818.

To this union was born several children, their eight oldest children were all born while the family still lived in Erie County. In 1834 Elizabeth & Benijah left Pennsylvania and migrated to Mercer County, Illinois, where they were amoung the very first white settlers in Millersburg Township. It was here they added four more children to their family. The Lloyd's became a very prominent family in Mercer County where Benijah engaged in farming.

In those early days, Mercer County was still mainly occupied by Indians. An old Family Lore quotes Elizabeth as saying "She had been in Mercer County for nearly a year before she saw the face of a white woman."

FAMILY DEATHS & BURIALS
Daughter's Lucinda & Rachel both died very young before the family left Pennsylvania and are buried somewhere in Erie County. Young son Marvin was killed when he was nearly seven years old, after falling out of the wagon and run over by the wheels. His remains were interred at their new home in Millersburg.

Elizabeth's husband Benijah Lloyd died 8/10/1864. After his death she lived with their son Walter until she passed away on 6/9/1880, age 80 years 6 months 8 days. Elizabeth and Benijah are both buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Millersburg Township, along with several other family members.

In The History of Mercer County, 1882 it states that "She will always be remembered by those who knew her on account of her generous hospitality."
