Robert and his wife Victoria Nunley Arden relocated to Indiana from Virginia. In 1910 they had 6 children, and Victoria was pregnant with the 7th. In August of 1910, eldest daughter Susie Blanche died at the age of 12. On October 3rd, still grieving from the tragic death of her daughter, Victoria gave birth to a son, who died the same day.
