Obituary-Davey. One day last week, while Charles Davey of Sacramento, CA, a half-brother of W. J. Davey of this city, was working in the woods near the above-named city when a tree fell on him and crushed one of his limbs in such a manner as to necessitate amputation. An operation was performed and three days later he succumbed to death. He leaves a wife and two small children to mourn their loss. Mr Davey was born and raised in this city, received his education in the city's public school. He left here for the west about nine years ago. He was about 25 years of age."
Dodgeville Chronicle, July 10, 1896 isue:
"W. J. Davey, of this city, received information this week that his stepbrother, Charles, who was born and raised here, and went to California about nine years ago, died near Sacramento last week. He had been cutting timber in the woods and a tree fell on him, breaking his leg, which it became necessary to amputate, and he died in about three hours after the operation. He leaves a wife and two children."
