History - Francis Riley Owen and his wife, Annie Patience Allphin (daughter of Susan Emeline Dameron and Israel Dodge Allphin) and their family moved to Harmony, Utah for the Winter so the children could go to school.

He hired a man to take care of his ranch in the mountains around Mount Carmel. In the Spring, when he, Francis Riley Owen, went back to the ranch he found that the hired man had taken some of the cattle and hogs. They began to quarrel and Aleck Thompsen, the hired man, shot him. He died instantly and was taken on a horse to Mount Carmel where he was buried.

Mr. Thompsen was sentenced to ten years in prison. All of the evidence was not given against him as the people took it for granted that he would hang for the deed.
