Born near Aurora in Dearborn County, Indiana. Wife of John Hardin Johnson and mother of 12 children. She was five feet two inches tall, a Methodist, and "a good Christian wife and mother." Died of pneumonia at the age of 42 contracted after scrubbing the kitchen floor of their farmhouse on a cold day, one mile west of Holliday, Kansas.

Died, on Wednesday morning, of pneumonia, Lois I. Johnson, wife of J. H. Johnson, one mile west of Holliday. Deceased was 38 [sic; 42] years old and leaves a husband and ten children, besides two brothers and a sister here, and a sister in Indiana.
